Instagram Unveils New Feature to Prevent Account Hack

This new Instagram feature will display genuine emails the company sent you which prevents and reduces the risk of someone else hijacking your account through phishing.

Instagram made this new feature which also helps you know which emails are sent by them and which are from hackers.

Remember that your account is vulnerable to hackers when you click a phishing link and input your login details which is the popular way people get access to accounts. So this new feature by Facebook-owned photo-sharing service will assist you to prevent that.

"Bad actors are getting better at imitating emails from Instagram, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for people to distinguish between a genuine email and a fake one," an Instagram spokesperson said in a statement.

To prevent your Instagram account from being hacked, this is what you should do;

1. Open Instagram

2. Go to Settings.

3. Click "Security".

4. Click "Emails from Instagram" under the Login Security section.

5. From here, you'll see a list of official emails from Instagram

6. While the "Other" tab contains other emails not related to security issues such as Tips and Promotions.

The "other" tab will display emails Instagram sent that aren't related to security issues.

Instagram also said you should be careful clicking links that claim to be sent by the company if you are not sure it is from them.
