MTN, Airtel, Glo, 9Mobile Guide To Check & Link NIN to Your Phone Number in Nigeria
Here is the guide to link your National Identification Number (NIN) in Nigeria to all your phone numbers on networks such as MTN, Airtel, Glo & 9Mobile. This linking is mandatory as the ISP through the Nigerian Government says citizens must do this before January 1st, 2021, or their phone number will be blocked. So knowing how important this is, this is the easiest way to link and also located/check your National Identification Number with your phone number.
Your NIN is almost like how your Bank BVN number works, you can link multiple sims to your NIN just as one BVN can be used on several banks. The national identification number replaces your Nation ID Card, i.e the old plastic one, so your new National ID has a NIN number which is all that matters, if you are yet to get yours, you can simply apply for National Identification Number here.
How To Check your NIN (If Forgotten) 2021
If you already have the new Nigeria National ID Card (Paper Type) and you didn't remember where you kept it, but you used it to register your NIN with your SIM card, then the below code will help you display it.
- Dial *346# on your phone Keypad.
- Type "1" to view your NIN.
- It will tell you that your request is being processed.
- It will then be sent to you as SMS and N20 will be deducted.
Note: As said earlier, for the NIN to display on any network after dialing the code, you need to make sure that is the phone number you used to register your NIN while you were enrolling for it. So this is how to check your forgotten NIN, but try to make sure you get the hardcopy, though the National Identification Number is what matters, you know the country you are in, they might still require you to get the hardcopy for more verification purposes.
