WhatsApp Testing Edit Messages Feature & New Message Reactions Skins
WhatsApp is currently working on more new features, this time users will be able to edit messages after they are sent. Also, as stated, WhatsApp is also working on adding new skin tones for message reactions, instead of the default yellow skin.
This update was reported by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, they confirmed with screenshots that WhatsApp is testing the option to allow users to edit their text messages.
From the shared screenshot, beta users who will have first access to this feature can utilize it; First, they need to long-press the text message they intend to delete, after that, they will see an Edit pop-up menu that should be tapped. Finally, they can clear or add text on the select field to edit their sent text.
Two things are unclear here; If the recipient will be able to get a left text that the message was edited e.g just as Telegram does, and also if the recipient will be able to check the previous versions of the deleted message e.g just as Facebook does.
As for the message reaction with new skin tones, this will be rolled out to some users through WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.13.4. Now, users will be able to change the color of the reaction emoji, only Thumbs Up and Folded Hands emojis for now as others aren't supported.
