Snapchat Launches Dual Camera Feature to Record with Front & Rear Camera Simultaneously
The American multimedia instant messaging service Snapchat on Monday introduced a new Dual Camera feature that allows users to shoot videos / take pictures with their front and rear camera at the same time.
As reported by the company, the Snapchat Dual Camera will first be available on iOS, starting today - while the Android support for this feature will be in a few months' time.

Snapchat also serves as a Camera app, though it is actually a social media app. Knowing this fact, it is not surprising the company focuses on new innovations for its camera functions such as the introduction of the Dual Camera.
According to the Snapchat announcement, the iOS models they mentioned to support the new Snapchat Dual Camera feature are iPhone models including iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
How does the Dual Camera Feature Work?
With a supported device, you can record your face, while at the same time recording the activities going on in the rear. This feature works best if you want to upload content showing your reaction to an incident you captured at that moment.
How to Use / Enable Dual Camera
- Open your Snapchat app, and start a Snap.
- Tap the new Dual Camera icon seen on the app.
- Choose a Dual Camera layout such as vertical, horizontal, picture in picture, and cutout.
- Add music, Stickers, and Lenses if needed.
- Use the 'flip camera' button to switch between the primary and secondary camera view.
