WhatsApp for iOS Update Features Text Detection, Voice Status
WhatsApp has rolled out an app update for iOS users that will allow them to post voice status updates for contacts customized with privacy settings, and support for detecting text directly from images. Let's see how they work and the benefits.
According to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp feature tracker, they confirmed that WhatsApp now allows iOS users to record a voice note and share it as a Status. This can be archived by heading to the Status tab, then making use of the pencil icon, and long-pressing the microphone icon to begin recording.
iOS 23.5.75 has support for a status update that can be shared as voice notes which is limited to 30 seconds in length. Users are also able to forward their own voice notes from chats to status. Furthermore, the WhatsApp update now makes it possible to multitask during a WhatsApp call without pausing the video as announced in the changelog for the WhatsApp for iOS 23.3.77 update.
The recently added text detection feature can be used starting from WhatsApp for iOS 23.5.75. In other to test this feature, users have to open an image with text and should find a new button that enables them to select and copy text directly from the image.
WhatsApp beta 2.23.5.13 for Android users is enjoying its own new features like the Unicode 15.0 emojis which now have up to 21 new emojis. They will also get a redesigned text editor and drawing tool with new fonts and text formatting. Changing text alignment and format of the text is now very much possible.
